Details: Elevate your skills with one rated classical game against a closely matched opponent. This format serves to hone your thought process, develop mental stamina, deepen strategic thinking, and practice time management. This event is a preview of the 2026 Classical League, which will take place on the first Saturday of every month (schedule to change in case of holidays). Results submitted to US Chess Federation for rating.
Time Control: G/90;+10 (90 minutes per side with 10 second increment)
Schedule:
9:00am - Check in; Setup; Pre-game warmup (discussion on tactics, game analysis, and puzzles)
9:30am - Check-in closes; pairings formulated. Games begin as soon as possible.
Arrive no later than 9:30am to ensure a pairing.
Entry Fee:
$5 for non-members. Free to members of the Granite YMCA. YMCA membership supports chess club activities - consider joining the YMCA.
