May:
Event: Four-round classical tournament
Details: One game per week, with a competitive section for US Chess Federation members and a casual section for non-rated play
Time Control: 45 minutes per side with a 5-second increment
June:
Event: Variety of chess activities for fun and improvement
Activities: Rapid Quads mini-tournament, Chess 960, blindfold chess, game analysis, chess puzzles and sparring
Schedule:
6:00pm - Check in; Setup; Discussion on tactics and puzzle themes
6:30pm - Check-in closes; Round pairings formulated
6:45pm - Game clocks start ticking
9:00pm - Facility closes
Arrive no later than 6:30pm to ensure a pairing. If you expect to arrive after 6:30pm, please contact organizer to secure a pairing. 1/2 point byes upon advance request. Limit 1 per tournament. Additional 0 point byes allowed.
Entry Fee:
$20 for non-members. Free to members of the Granite YMCA.
Prizes:
Entry fee reimbursed for the winner of the classical tournament. Token prizes for top scores under 1000 and 1500.
Parking & Accessibility:
Metered on-street parking available, but limited. Parking garage is one block away at 2-98 Plaza Dr in Manchester. Elevator from street level is available Ring buzzer for assistance. Chess event is on the second floor.
