Advisor with the High School delegation in the YMCA’s Youth & Government Program at the Pre-Legislative Session on March 14, 2026 the James O’Neil Training on April 9, 2026 (if elected), and the Model Legislative Session on April 10-11 2026.

The kids are taking over the Y! Welcome to KNO, where kids ages 3 to 12 years get to take night out and play with their friends for a while. With different themes and activities each month, this is sure to be a great time! Did we mention dinner is included and it’s all included with your membership? So tell the family you’re going to the Y for Kids’ Night Out, and we’ll see you there! (Children must be potty trained.) Registration closes the Wednesday prior to the event.

Details: Two rapid games each Tuesday evening in the month of October. Results submitted to US Chess Federation for rating. (USCF membership required)
Time Control: G/15;+5 (15 minutes per side with 5 second increment)

Schedule:
6:00pm - Check in; Setup; Pre-game discussion on tactics and puzzle themes
6:30pm - Check-in closes; Game 1 pairings formulated
6:45pm - Game 1 begins
7:25pm - 5 minute break; results tabulated; game 2 pairings formulated
7:30pm - Game 2 begins
8:10pm - Game review and discussion

Arrive no later than 6:30pm to ensure a pairing. If you expect to arrive after 6:30pm, please contact organizer at contact listed below to secure a pairing for that day. 1/2 point byes upon advance request. Limit 2 per tournament. Additional 0 point byes allowed. No shows receive 0 point forfeit loss.

Entry Fee:
$10 for non-members. Free to members of the Granite YMCA.

Prizes:
Entry fee reimbursed for the winner of the classical tournament. Token prizes for top scores under 1000 and 1500.

Details: Elevate your skills with one rated classical game against a closely matched opponent. This format serves to hone your thought process, develop mental stamina, deepen strategic thinking, and practice time management. This event is a preview of the 2026 Classical League, which will take place on the first Saturday of every month (schedule to change in case of holidays). Results submitted to US Chess Federation for rating.

Time Control: G/90;+10 (90 minutes per side with 10 second increment)

9:00am - Check in; Setup; Pre-game warmup (discussion on tactics, game analysis, and puzzles)
9:30am - Check-in closes; pairings formulated. Games begin as soon as possible.

Arrive no later than 9:30am to ensure a pairing.

$5 for non-members. Free to members of the Granite YMCA. YMCA membership supports chess club activities - consider joining the YMCA.
