Each year the Y annual fundraising effort, our Reach Out for Youth and Families, provides opportunities for individuals and families in our community who are in need of financial assistance to become members of the Y and participate in Y programs. Although we have been very successful in our endeavors to provide support to all who establish financial need, the disparity grows every year. Help make an impact today in your community by giving to Y.Reducing the dropout rate is a priority. Manchester has one of the state's highest dropout rates, accounting for 24% of the total dropouts (NH Dept of Education). The Granite YMCA is focused on working with kids whose lives are complicated by risk factors including poverty, exposure to violence, substance abuse, poor school performance, engagement in risk-taking behaviors, or significant social-emotional difficulties. The Granite YMCA’s Youth Opportunities Unlimited programs provide support to students who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Ninety percent of enrolled participants in Y dropout prevention programs live in very low to low income families. By providing these services, we are helping to meet a community goal of making sure all children are provided the support they need to successfully move to graduation.
