Friendly games and tournament play every Tuesday!

The YMCA of Downtown Manchester is hosting casual chess and a USCF-rated chess tournament each month, one game per week for four weeks. All ages and skill levels welcome!

Tournament Schedule:
6:00pm - Check in; Setup; Discussion on tactics and puzzle themes with Craig
6:30pm - Check-in closes; Game pairings formulated; Announcements
6:45pm - Games begin

Arrive no later than 6:30pm to ensure a pairing. If you expect to arrive after 6:30pm, please contact organizer to secure a pairing.

Facility closes at 9:00pm.

Tournament Details:

Tournament is four rounds, with one game each Tuesday, beginning on the first Tuesday of the month. After the first round, late-comers are still welcome to register for rounds 2, 3, and 4. (Late entries, please arrive promptly at 6pm to sign in.)

USCF dual rated - classical and rapid. G/45; +5. One open section, Swiss style pairing. Current US Chess Federation membership required for tournament.

Entry Fee:

$10 for non-members. Free to members of the Granite YMCA.

Prize:

Entry fee is refunded to the winner, and their name goes on the Y Chess Champions Cup.

Byes:

1/2 point byes upon advance request. Limit 1 per tournament. Additional 0 point byes allowed.

Parking & Accessibility:

Metered on-street parking available, but limited. Parking garage is one block away at 2-98 Plaza Dr in Manchester. Elevator from street level is available Ring buzzer for assistance. Chess event is on the second floor.
